Sign tickets and pickup
When an admin opens the season, every sign location without an installed sign goes onto an install sign ticket, and an installer sees the open tickets with sign locations, zone, sign types, urgency and planned date. The installer takes a ticket, which marks it theirs so two people never drive to one trailhead, and picks a sign depot that has every sign type on it; the signs are set aside. A ticket is one trip and may carry eight signs; giving it back reopens it, and the holder may split off signs they can't reach onto a new open ticket.
After the install record in the launch order (Jamie, 2026-10-14 PT). Taking a ticket is what makes a person an installer; stewards and patrollers may take one.
The flow
Pickup refuses a depot missing a sign type on the ticket; one left raises the low-stock alert.

Three ways to build it
Low not chosen
The admin keeps the ticket list and emails installers which trailheads to do; stock is a sheet.
Medium committed
Open season makes the tickets; installers take, give back and split their own; pickup is a button that sets signs aside, with an override when the count is wrong. Committed: the Nov 1 chain (#63, #64) is this.
High not chosen
The medium level plus planned-date reminders and stock counted at the shelf on a schedule. Admins split and combine any ticket at either level.
What the tests prove
- Open seasoncreates install work for exactly the signs without an installed sign or an active ticket.
- One takera taken ticket cannot be taken by someone else; giving it back reopens it.
- Several signsa ticket shows each sign's location, work and sign type.
- Empty depotpickup refuses a depot missing any sign type on the ticket and names the others' stock.
- Splitthe holder's split keeps the chosen signs and puts the rest on a new open ticket; someone else can't split it.
- Overridethe holder's count at pickup corrects the stock and is logged with who, when, old and new count.
- Reconcilean admin's count sets the stock and records who, when and the difference.
Measurements
Counted on the wireframe; live numbers come from the usage compartment once the screen exists.
Decided
- The installer holding a ticket may split it: the signs they keep stay theirs, the rest go on a new open ticket. Combining stays with admins (Jamie, 2026-10-22 PT, #63).
- Pick up at the TBSP shed is a button. It records the depot, sets the signs aside and lowers the count; giving the ticket back puts them back (2026-10-22 PT, #64).
- Override low stock: the ticket's holder enters the count they see and picks up; the count is corrected, logged as an override at pickup, and shown to admins (Jamie, 2026-10-22 PT, #64).
- Low stock is one left of a sign type, the same rule at every depot; an admin can change the number for the program (Jamie, 2026-10-22 PT, #64).
- Recounts: after the opening count, an admin recounts each depot's shelf in early February and at season close; overrides correct it in between (Jamie, 2026-10-22 PT, #64, #71, #72).
